Justin at the Purple Wall in Magic Kingdom

This is the heart of everything.

The Story Behind JRW Design Co.

We create reasons to smile. ✨

What JRW Stands For 💙

JRW stands for Justin, Raymond, Wilmer.

It's my name — Justin Ray — and my grandfather's name. His full name was Wilmer Raymond, but everyone called him Pappy Wilmer.

Pappy Wilmer and Bubba Sandy are the reason I fell in love with the parks. Going to Disney was our family tradition. And here's the thing that makes it even more special: my birthday is August 17th. The exact same day as Pappy Wilmer's birthday.

Where It All Started 🏰

Living the brand at home — our charcuterie board + homemade Mickey waffles. This is the magic. 🧇✨

It was 2011. I was at a family cookout, discussing my first idea.

What started as a hobby became a side project. The side project became a small business. The small business became... this. Fifteen years later, I'm still making signs. Still putting love into every piece. Still trying to create little sparks of joy for people's homes.

I never imagined this would become my life. But I'm so grateful it did.

The Space Mountain Memory ✨

One of my favorite memories with Pappy Wilmer is from Space Mountain.

I was young — mesmerized by the idea of flying through galaxies. I remember waiting in line for what felt like forever. The anticipation was unbearable. I was SO excited.

Pappy waited patiently the whole time. He wasn't riding — just waiting for me due to health conditions. And when it was finally my turn, he let me go ahead. He just smiled and waved.

I came off that ride with the biggest grin. He was right there waiting.

Justin on the Haunted Mansion ride

Still chasing that park magic. Haunted Mansion is another favorite — foolish mortal and proud of it. 👻

That memory is so special to me. I wish I could thank him as an adult. I wish I could tell him that his patience, his presence, his love — it shaped me. It shaped this whole business.

Every sign I make, I think of him. His name is literally in the brand. JRW. Justin. Raymond. Wilmer.

Bubba Sandy's Last Trip 💙

Watching the parade together. Look at her face. Pure joy. ✨

In 2023, I got to take my grandmother, Bubba Sandy, to Disney.

She was getting older, and I knew this might be her last chance to experience the parks. I wanted to give her the trip of her life.

And we did.

We took selfies everywhere. She danced at the castle shows and parades. She laughed at everything. She was pure joy.

I captured every single moment I could. Videos, photos, everything. Because I knew I'd want to remember.

Hearing her laugh during those trips is something I'll cherish for the rest of my life.

Bubba Sandy passed not long after that trip.

But those memories? Those are forever. And that feeling — that pure, joyful, magical feeling — is exactly what I try to capture in every sign I make.

What Our Signs Really Are 🏰

For a long time, I said I make "park-inspired home decor." And that's true. I do.

But now I understand what these signs really are:

Joy anchors.

Intentional reminders that honor where you've been AND who you're becoming.

Park memories that transport you back to your happiest moments. Daily phrases that ground you when life gets heavy. Seasonal magic that makes your home feel alive. Pop culture you love that makes you smile every time you walk by.

I used to say the only Disney decor in my house was in the dining room. Now I have park-inspired magic in almost every room. Each sign I make adds a new story or spark of joy to my home — and I hope it does the same for yours.

I sit and stare at my own signs sometimes. I just smile. I hope yours do the same for you. ✨

What We Believe 💙

Joy is in every day magic.

In a world that's constantly telling you to be productive, to hustle, to optimize everything — joy can feel like a luxury. Like something you don't have time for. But I believe joy is essential. It grounds you. It reminds you why you're doing all the other stuff.

Magic is not childish — it's sustaining.

People sometimes act like believing in magic is something you're supposed to outgrow. I disagree. Magic — the sense of wonder, the willingness to be delighted — is what gets you through hard days. It's sustaining.

When you look for magic, you find it everywhere. ✨

2024 was hard. A 13-year relationship ended. I lost two jobs. Some days I felt like I'd lost my spark altogether.

So I decided to intentionally seek joy again. Sorcerer Mickey has always been my all-time favorite — there's something about that image of believing in your own magic. I set a personal challenge: snap a photo of every Sorcerer Mickey I could find throughout the parks. Hidden ones. Obvious ones. All of them.

It sounds small. But it changed everything. When you train yourself to look for magic, you start finding it everywhere. That's what "Just A Ray of Light & Magic" means to me — choosing joy, even when it's hard. Especially when it's hard.

October 2024 — on a mission to find every Sorcerer Mickey. Some imagination, huh? ✨

You are never too old to believe in a little magic.

There's no age limit on joy. No expiration date on wonder. You're allowed to love what you love, decorate how you want, and fill your home with things that make you happy.

Your castle deserves a spark of joy.

Your home is YOUR castle. It should feel like you. It should make you smile. It should remind you of who you are and what matters to you. That's what we're here to help with.

Who Are We 🏰

JRW is a tiny operation. It's me, my mom, and Leanne. We're a 3-person team working out of Ohio. No warehouse. No production line. No investors. Just us, making things we love.

Justin Ray, founder of JRW Design Co.

Justin — The Dreamer

I have my hands in everything. Designing, cutting, painting, packing, answering emails, posting content — all of it.

But my favorite part? Getting to design. I love the message our signs leave. I love that they spark joy. Every single one starts as an idea in my head, and watching it become something on your wall? That never gets old. ✨

Justin and his mom Brenda at Magic Kingdom

Mom (Brenda) — The Magic Keeper

Every border on every framed sign? She assembles and glues each one by hand. She's also our quality control — making sure every sign stays magical before it leaves our hands.

Building this business with her is one of the greatest joys of my life. She's not just my mom — she's my adventure buddy. Always has been. 💙

Leanne and Justin from their college track days

Leanne — The Heart

Leanne handles customer service, shipping, and helps make products. She keeps us organized and sane — and honestly, we'd be lost without her.

Fun fact: we met sophomore year of college. We were both high jumpers on the track team at Capital University. Loved every second of those three years with her. Some friendships just keep growing. ✨

Leanne and her son Cam on a shopping day

Leanne and Cam on a materials shopping day. Sometimes our "team meetings" include more laughs than work. 😄

Every sign is batch-built after each opening. 2-4 weeks shipping isn't slow — it's intentional. Made with real hands and real care. ✨

My Hope For You 💙

I hope our signs spark a little bit of joy when you need it most.

I hope you walk past them and smile. I hope they remind you of something good — a memory, a feeling, a moment that matters.

I hope they make your home feel more like YOU.

And I hope, even just a little bit, they remind you that magic is real. That joy is worth pursuing. That you're never too old to believe.
